Now that Zune is gone how do I sync/add music to my Nokia Lumia 800?

With Zune 4.8, it still works with Windows 8. Zune won't be officially gone until Windows Phone 8 is release in the fall, that's probably when support will be dropped for it.

Some rumors are swirling about that Windows Phone 8 will act like a flash drive to Windows, meaning you just copy and paste content over to it from Computer like you would with an android device. That MIGHT happen with the new Windows Phone 7.8 update later next month or two. But that kind gives rise to the issue of syncing content over and managing the content on it, as that's the reason why the idevices and Windows Phone are better than android because of an external managing client of iTunes and Zune.

You have the Lumia 800? How is that like? That looks real cool! I have the Lumia 900 and I was waiting to see if the 800 was going to make it to the US as that is a NICE looking phone, as it the 900. :p

I love the 800. I had an HTC HD7 and I thought I would miss having the 4.3" screen, I don't miss it. Everything about this phone is a lot better. The OS runs the same on both, smooth and very fast. I remember using my dad's Thunderbolt when he got it, it was a clunky piece of junk compared to the HD7 and this 800 is much better.

Back on topic: how do I use my Zune pass until the fall? I tried installing the Zune client on my Win 8 test box and it wouldn't install. An error popped saying it was an unsupported OS.

android, what junk! :D

Your Zune Pass should still work in Zune. I've had that incompatibility issue with the leaked RTM build. I remember I just tried it again and it worked. It will ask you to install .NET Framework 2 and I think 3.5. Download and install that and Zune will install. If it won't work, try installing it in Windows 7 compatibility mode. Also, if Zune will be ended altogether after the Windows Phone 8 release and 7.8 update release, I do believe your Zune Pass will still work as the "replacement" of Xbox Music in Windows 8 will work with current passes.

This is how I finally got it somewhat working. I installed Zune 4.0. When I started it there was a dialog box saying there was an update available, which Windows Update couldn't get. I then installed Zune 4.8 on top of it. It somewhat works but anytime I plug my Windows Phone in I get a box saying I need Zune software to use the phone. I believe some of this is messed up because this isn't the RTM version and there are still some bugs.

Huh, odd. I have Zune 4.8 running in the TechNet release of Windows 8 Enterprise and it syncs correctly. Got my Lumia 900 updated to Tango!
