Windows 8 not working with SSD AND HDD

Hi

I have been using windows 8 for quite some time now, but my problem started a while back.

I installed windows 8 on my SSD drive, and it worked for a month or so, but all of the sudden, my computer startet giving me an error on startup: "An operating system wasn't found. Try disconnecting any drives that don't contain an operating system.
Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart"

I have checked my bios, and the problem doesn't seem to be in the boot-device settings. But when I disconnect my HDD that I have in my computer for storage, the problem stops and the computer boots just fine.

note: if the HDD haven't been connected for a while and I connect it (if I decided to try fiddling with the problem again) it starts up just fine, but then when I restart or try to boot again, the same message appears - even after multiple attempts at booting...

Thx in advance
Joax

Welcome to Eight Forums.

Is your SSD connected to the SATA0 port?
The HHD can be in any other port, SATA1 for example.

Are you using RAID or AHCI mode?
Which Intel RST driver are you using?

Is you Device Manager showing any '?' on any devices?

Post a snip of your Disk Management, be sure to make it large enough so we can see all details.

My SSD is sitting in a HighPoint Rocket 620 2P SATA III (controller) and my HDD was actually sitting in the SATA1 port (there doesn't seem to be a SATA0 port), I have switched the HDD to sit in the SATA2 port instead, and it actually seems to work now - I have rebooted a couple of times, without getting the error.
So it would seem, that it actually wasn't a problem with windows 8 anyways ;D

I will mark this thread as solved, when I'm sure, that the problem has been so.

thx for the help Dave

Glad to hear you got it working.

Kinda strange it works on SATA2.
