hardware acceleration disabled

hi, new to the board here...i have a problem with my laptop im hoping to get resolved here. heres my story....i have a hp laptop that originally had 8.1 64 bit. it was very slow so i researched how to downgrade to win. 7...i have 7 installed on it now, and it works great, except for this one issue....if i open a game, a box pops up and says accelerator hardware is disabled or that it needs a driver.... im thinking this means the chipset driver.... i looked on the hp support site, and they have win 7 drivers for this laptop, but the chipset drivers are all 64 bit, and this is a 32 bit win 7. though the laptop was 64. anyway... does anyone know how to solve this issue? any input will be greatly appreaciated. thanks.

i know thats what its talking about, im asking how to fix it... not that in depth on computer problems, but research showed me thats what it was, i tried to download graphic drivers and so forth, but im thinking maybe its because it had win 8 64 bit, and since i reverted to win 7 32 bit that may be why i have the problem. you think so? that program i downloaded, i thought you had posted it, but it was posted on here as a recommended fix.

It has nothing to do with the version of Windows. It has to do with the OS may not be able to take advantage of GPU Hardware acceleration for some reason.

Run Dxdiag in Run. Run DirectX Diagnostic Tool

Also check bios settings if it is onboard GPU.

You really need to input exact model of your computer and also detailed spec's.

Not to intrude here

Just thought after reading this..

And I don't think this has anything to do with your issue, like broe23 said,

but why not just install the 64bit version of windows 7. Especially since you did know you had 64bit before!

And definitely install directx again like he also mentioned

Specs!

I did not state for the OP to install DirectX. In their case, they had to use DxDiag to troubleshoot why GPU hardware Acceleration was not working. It does not matter what version of Windows they are using. If they do not want a 64 bit version of Windows 10, that is their choice.

you need to google what is the difference between 32bit and 64bit windows..

but mostly it will be how the processor and Ram is used.. for one big typical thing people always will tell you, is that if you don't use 64bit, you can't use over 4 gigs of RAM for one...
