I have a SAMSUNG ATIV BOOK 2 which was working fine until i got a BSOD about some kernel and the next morning the thing won't boot up saying 'all boot options have been tried'. I just decided to reformat it but then i found out C: drive was missing. Not found on BIOS, and on disk part. The only unusual thing i did was install .net 3.5 via dism , it said it was installed but some programs demands for it still.

Can someone help me? Or am i doomed because its an HDD prob? But SENTINEL says its 100% healthy. And yes I tried reseating the hard drive

If me, I would pull the hard drive and install it into an enclosure attached to another computer, or install it in another as a secondary drive (not boot drive), then see if you can, first, retrieve any data you don't want lost. Then run diagnostics on the drive.

Hi there,

The best approach would be to remove the HDD from the laptop and to connect it via SATA to a different system. If the drive is healthy you should be able to retrieve your data, if not run the short diagnostics test the HDD manufacturer offers and see if it finds anything. If the drive is not detected at all even on a different system you might need professional data recovery services to get your data back. Good luck.

Ummm, this is almost exactly what I suggested a week ago Techpumpkin. No harm in reiterating, but since we have not had a reply from the OP, I am not certain of your intent to dredge this up again.

Thanks for the replies, I'm going to do what you said but I can't right now since I'm somewhere far from access to any other computers.

But I have another thing to consult you guys. Last week, out of desperation I just loaded random mass storage drivers using active bootdisk and after sometime it got an error, some kind of blue screen and it caused the laptop to restart and when it did, the boot disk can detect the hdd again but windows won't boot anymore. So right away I tried to back up the files in it and after that I clean installed windows again and I THOUGHT MY PROBLEM WAS SOLVED! So after succesfully installing windows and programs back, I turned off the laptop but unfortunately hdd can't be detected again next morning. I tried to boot from the flashdrive but it was damaged too and it says bcd is missing. Could it be a virus that is causing this? And if you think so, any other suggestions to solve this? I'm a technician wannabe and as much as as possible I want to solve this by myself (with your help of course :) )

You really shouldn't keep adding new problems to the same thread -- it makes it confusing and hard to follow -- and folks that respond to thread based on their titles won't respond to yours because the title then doesn't reflect the new problem.

But it's the same problem, the hdd is not installed even if it's there. I was just stating that it might not be caused by a problematic drive but a failed driver or a virus causing the driver to be defective
