Hello, randomly my main disk goes to 100% usage and either
1:) Stops the system responding for 10-30 seconds
2:) Refuses to let me switch programs without a freeze

This 100% usage occurs for 10-30 seconds. This issue started occuring 4 days ago and has happened 5 times. This issue has also happened on Windows 10

I have looked in the event logs and found this
Reset to device, \Device\RaidPort0, was issued. As well as Reset to device, \Device\ACHIPort0, was issued.

Open a Command Prompt (it is at Programs>All Programs>Accessories>Command Prompt) right click on it and select "run as administrator" then type in "Chkdsk C: /f /r" (without the quotes). This will scan the hard disk for errors and try to relocate any data on bad sectors.

No bad sectors found, and the issue happened again during chkdsk. I forgot to mention that the drive sounds like it stops spinning (Because it makes a clear noise when reading/writing)

Think if Hard drive was dying be making a clicking noise, not spinning. Could be software issue or possible virus.

Look here same issue, try a clean boot see of it happens then http://www.eightforums.com/performance-maintenance/42710-windows-8-100-disk-usage-causes-freeze.html

But why would it happen during a install of Windows? (was installing Windows 10 Build 10162 and it happened during then) (Was using Windows 8.1 at the time of the first post) Audio continues playing despite the hard drive

21:04 - It happened again

The IO operation at logical block address 0x336b018 for Disk 0 (PDO name: \Device\00000026) was retried.

Windows 10 not out yet, must be preview your trying, can not say why happening from this as it is new, but first check for BIOS update and Intel Chipset, Controller (IRST driver) and other system drivers from PC manufacturer's site. Telling me before this preview install you tried chkdsk and it told you of no fixes or bad sectors, could of tried to post results here for us to look at.

Can be more then software issue if loosing hard drive in BIOS and getting BSOD, then I think would be hardware related, but freezes and hangs usually due to what i mentioned. Try updating your system drivers first then.

Harddrive issue

I'm highly sure it's hardware, because it's happened on both Windows 8/8.1 amd Windows 10. Both were up to date. Also, I added a new event log above, so take a look at that.

What do you mean exactly by up to date, all hardware drivers and system are ? When post a log, need it in it's entirety, not just a bit of it, to make sense of it. Where is it in the Event Viewer ? Have another drive to try on port 0 ? Or switch the port, but need make sure latest intel rapid storage drivers for controllers.

Yes all drivers. and the partial logs come from System, and it says the source is storachi
Yea I have another hard drive that I can switch to Sata 0 (Port 0) Want me to switch them over and see if the issue still persists?

I had similar issue, my SSD would freeze then disappear from explorer and the BIOS. This was your case to being the OS drive get a Blue Screen of Death and have to restart and then get an error no boot device. Do anything to system just before this happened, added anything ? This is showing as a laptop, not as easy as desktop to just open up and change anything.

Oh my bad! I forgot to update My System Specs. (I got a new pc earlier this year)
And no I've not added anything. Had the drive since 2006( yes I know I need to upgrade, I'm working on that) but it's been working fine and I suddenly just got these issues. No BSOD's that are releated to the drive.

Do you understand all readings you saw, to know for sure, do you want to post a screen capture ? If you did, seems like drive is o.k., unless want to try also read and write test. Leaning towards it not being the drive itself, but something else, either drivers, software or possible other hardware.

Only issue is a "unknown attribute" but that value hasn't changed. I doubt that it is a software related issue as it just happened randomly, and clean installing did not fix it

So have 2 hard drives and Samsung is one with issue, seems as though SMART and chkdsk is fine. Did clean install recently and same exact issue.
But have put same exact software back on and then it happened or before you put all back on ?
