I just received a Dell XPS 13 9343 and am having problems with my usb 3.0 hard drive. It keeps crashing when transferring files. I have tried clean installs of 8.1 and even Windows 10.

If I hook it up to a 2.0 hub it works just fine, but slower speeds.

The error I get is driver_irql_not_less_or_equal wdf01000.sys.

description: Kernel Mode Driver Framework Runtime
Bug check description: This indicates that a kernel-mode driver attempted to access pageable memory at a process IRQL that was too high.
This appears to be a typical software driver bug and is not likely to be caused by a hardware problem.
The crash took place in a standard Microsoft module. Your system configuration may be incorrect. Possibly this problem is caused by another driver on your system that cannot be identified at this time.

[FONT=Segoe UI, Arial][SIZE=2][COLOR=#000000]4 crash dumps have been found and analyzed. No offending third party drivers have been found. Connsider using WhoCrashed Professional which offers more detailed analysis using symbol resolution. Also configuring your system to produce a full memory dump may help you.

Read the topic [URL="http://www.resplendence.com/whocrashed_troubleshooting"]general suggestions for troubleshooting system crashes[/URL] for more information.

Note that it's not always possible to state with certainty whether a reported driver is responsible for crashing your system or that the root cause is in another module. Nonetheless it's suggested you look for updates for the products that these drivers belong to and regularly visit Windows update or enable automatic updates for Windows. In case a piece of malfunctioning hardware is causing trouble, a search with Google on the bug check errors together with the model name and brand of your computer may help you investigate this further.

It will be hard to give detailed info.

But from your first post Windbg is flagging your USB3 driver,

Code:
Probably caused by : USBXHCI.SYS ( USBXHCI!Bulk_Transfer_CompleteCancelable+15a )Probably caused by : USBXHCI.SYS ( USBXHCI!Bulk_Transfer_CompleteCancelable+15a )

The results of Who crashed are generic, and in your case pointing to Microsoft drivers (As it often will) and incorrectly at that.

From the bugcheck it is a driver, you mention a couple of installs so have you installed the chipset drivers from the Dell support page?

Yes. I tried installing each and every Dell driver after multiple BSODs. I also read multiple sources regarding Windows 8 and the USB 3 drivers. Some sites suggested disabling driver signatures and installing the Win 7 USB drivers, but I couldn't get that to work.

Here are my BSOD files https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=B513E857B85E6879!494&authkey=!APDDhBjTq5Ow8CU&ithint=file,zip

I don't have any problems with my USB3 drivers, turning off driver signatures isn't a good idea anyway.

Are you missing any drivers in device manager? Anything with a :warn:

What's interesting is the dump file shows you are only using the USB3 driver from Microsoft's installer,

Code:
Image path: \SystemRoot\System32\drivers\USBXHCI.SYS
    Image name: USBXHCI.SYS

    FileDescription: USB XHCI Driver

Instead of Intel's driver which it should be using,

Code:
Intel(R) USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller - 0100 (Microsoft)	PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_[B][COLOR="#FF0000"]9CB1[/COLOR][/B]&SUBSYS_06651028&REV_03\3&11583659&0&A0

Looking up that device ID from your MSINFO32.nfo file points to an HP download.

Two of the three dumps also show you have driver verifier enabled,

Code:
DEFAULT_BUCKET_ID: VERIFIER_ENABLED_VISTA_MINIDUMP

Can you turn that off,

Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable - Windows 7 Help Forums

I think something else is causing that driver to fail since it's Microsoft's driver, I'm not sure what though.

What AV are you using?

No missing drivers in device manager.

I turned on driver verifier for troubleshooting steps on the Microsoft community.

The only AV I'm using is Microsoft defender.

So I found an extra external enclosure laying around and took the Seagate apart to use the other one. I am no longer getting crashes or errors and I'm able to transfer a 10GB file at 79MB/s average. It seems this computer does not like my Seagate enclosure even though it worked fine in my other laptop.
