touch win 8.1 keyboard

i have just bought my first windows tablet which is running win 8.1.
am loving it however one thing that bugs me is when the cursor is active, such as when i touch the address bar in Chrome, the touch keyboard doesnt automatically popup on the screen like on a ipad.
or am i missing a setting?

Are you running Chrome in Windows 8 mode or on the desktop? The touch keyboard only appears automatically for Windows 8 (Metro) apps. For desktop apps you have to press the button on the taskbar to make it appear.

ok i was running in desktop, but this only solves the issue with chrome. what about others like microsoft word
