Windows 8.1 wont play DVD's Nor CD's

Good day to all.
Maybe I should not ask this question on here as its from another forum regarding windows 8 wont play a DVD.
If I have done wrong by doing this please dont hesitate to remove it.
This is the post from another forum,Hope that we can have a solution.

I don't use VLC because I've had too many issues with it. Try Kodi(formally XBMC). it works on everything and can even be used as a DVR/PVR. The only thing is it doesn't play Blu Ray's. For them you need DAPlayer from WinXDVD(the player is free).

I have never had any issues with VLC in Desktop mode. You may still be able to get the Media Center. The only thing I can think of why your system is not playing disc material, would be the driver for the DVD/CD is incorrect, or the unit is defective. Are these discs that you have created, or original discs from the manufacturer.

Possible that your drive is not set for the correct region.
