Install on SSD delayed , incomplete

I just installed 8.1 on a OCZ vertex 2 SSD which I secure erased first and checked remaining life (100%). SSD is the only drive on the PC. Went into device mgr and selected "update drivers' for my video card and it downloaded and installed the corrected drivers. Restarted.

Then, I was unable to access the system utilities on the start menu (taskmgr, comp mgmt, dev mgr, disk mgmt etc). Windows was unable to find the file for each which I confirmed with a search. ie" diskmgmt.msc was not in system32. I was able to install chrome and prime95 and they both ran ok.

So, after 5 mins, I try the system utilities again and they are all working!

The only think I can think of, is the sandforce controller on the SSD needed to "catch up".

Any ideas?

If it's AMD system, GPU drivers also contain drivers for AHCI which I hope you had turned on in the BIOS.
