CPU/Mobo Compatibility

I currently have a Gigabyte GA-990XA-UD3 (rev. 1.x) mobo. Will it support a AMD FX-9370 CPU or am I stuck with a FX-8370 tops? Also does it absolutely HAVE TO BE water cooled?
I can't get a clear answer on this matter, as some people have told me that my Mobo can run it and some have said that it couldn't.
If anyone out there has CPU/Mobo knowledge, can you please shed some light on the subject?
Thanks.

I would recommend the Gigabyte Support for that answer as to which motherboard will work with which CPU Generations.
Why would you have to run water cooled. Water Cooling is very expensive and we have Air heat sinks that work pretty much as well at least as well for normal use. If your interested in drastic Overclocking perhaps the extra expense might be worth while.

If you look at the Support link Clintlgm provided, then click on Support & Downloads, you will see a link to CPU Support List. This is the QVL (qualified vendor list) for CPUs - a list of all the CPUs Gigabyte has tested and verified are compatible with that motherboard. Note you MUST buy a listed CPU. There is also a RAM QVL but there are too many RAM makers and models for board makers to test them all. So you don't have to buy listed RAM, but you do need to buy RAM with the same specs as listed RAM.

As far as liquid cooling the FX-9370 and sibling FX-9590 are overclocked CPUs from the factory and top the list in heat dissipation among AMD CPUs. You cannot even buy it with a heatsink fan assembly. It is only sold without a cooler, or with a liquid cooler and AMD does state it requires water cooling.

However, as noted by Xbit Labs, they had no problem keeping heat at bay with air cooling. Just remember that it is the case's responsibility to provide a sufficient supply of cool air flowing through the case. So you MUST make sure you have a good case providing plenty of cool air so the heat extracted by a conventional heatsink fan assembly can quickly be moved away and out.

Thanks for the responses guys. I actually got in touch with Gigabyte customer support and was told that the FX-9370 wasn't compatible with my Mobo.

FX-9370 is just factory overclocked 8350/70 processor. main reason for compatibility concerns is VRM on that UD3 series. That processor easily exceeds 200-220 Watts while MB supports 140W max. Only Gigabyte MBs that can cope with heavily OCed FX 8xxx are the ones with UD5 - UD7 designations.
