Hi,

I have bought the Dell Inspiron 1545 in 2009 which it had Windows 7, then it stopped working for a long time after it has been fixed due to HDD problems and connectivity.
But now I have upgraded to Windows 8.1 yesterday and for some reason that my Touchpad/Mousepad has stopped working, so I am just wondering if it something to do with the drivers or the connections inside the laptop which it might be loose.
Does this laptop has an enabled/disable feature on the keyboard to lock the mousepad, which I might've accidently pressed which I can't find where it is on the keyboard.
Thanks! :)
Yours Sincerely,
Benjamin123

Thanks for the link. I've downloaded it - but the mousepad still doesn't work and now the keyboard is not working. I'll have to do a system restore to get it back. Unless I have to go to the C: drive and delete the files which they are being downloaded into.

Good news! The mouse and the keyboard is working again, the problem was something in the C: drive which causing the problems.

SOLUTION

This is how I did it (for Windows 8/8.1 users):
1. Open File Explorer
2. Locate to the C: drive on This PC
3. Right click on 'dell', then press Delete
4. Close and restart
5. Once rebooted, test your mouse and keyboard. It should work as it should be, the drivers are being installed by itself.

I hope these steps work for any Dell laptop running Windows 8/8.1.

Thanks! :)
