(self explanatory)

Also do Amd processers and Amd Gpu run better together

If I was to get Intel or Amd please state what variant to get!

If you want an i5 then get an i5, if you want an i7 then get an i7, and so on... Depends on your needs. You may get by with a Pentium G620

to be fair it all depends on what your doing, the amd 1100t did just as well as the i7 in certain programs and when we talk about differences in time scale it's seconds not hours the differences are pointlessly small.

intel don't make discrete gpu's so that's one thing less to worry about, at that point your better picking either Amd or Nvidia both have their merits and neither will disapoint, as with everything you get what you pay for, Nvidia are priced a little higher however.

as for a cpu, well it really does depend on what you wish to do, are you doing high end photo and video editing? then get an I7 or amd equivelent.

if not then get an i5 for gaming or an i3 or amd equivilent to suit your needs.

the above mentioned g620 is a sandybridge dual core probably on par with the low to mid range i3 offerings considering it's price it's rather surprisingly nippy at normal desktop work loads.

I have an fx-8150 amd 8x. No, it didn't slay intel's top of the line, but it's a damn fine cpu nonetheless.

I have a 6750 amd graphics card.

For the CPU, as mentioned in the above posts, it depends on what you need it to do.
I prefer Intel, they have a performance edge, many use AMD and are happy with them.
i7 for high performance
i5 for mid to high performance
i3 for every day casual useage

AMD and Nvidia graphics cards work equally well with either Intel or AMD CPUs.

If you post your usage, requirements and budget we can give you suggestions.

For me...it's AMD...best bang for the buck on both ends...IMHO. A slight advantaged for the GPU with AMD for me with the ability to span a single gaming screen across multiple monitors, especially in a 3 monitor setup. It's called EyeFinity...a really awesome feature.

What is Eyefinity

IMO for the best bang for buck in gaming and multitasking, AMD (8-cores) + Radeon dual graphics setup, but for intense CPU utilization such as protein folding simulation, mathematical/physics modeling, video editing, faster performance per core, etc. get Intel.

BTW, AMD's top of the line Piledriver FX-8350 can hold its ground against the 2nd and 3rd i5 K series @ 4 GHz when overclocked to at least 4.7 GHz.

Well Ace, what are you using this thing for? If you want top of the line, newest and fastest, get Intel.

If you want to save a whole lot of money while still having a decent CPU, go AMD. And the type of either Intel or AMD may very well depend on what you need the computer for. Cheap computer? Medium speed computer? Gaming? Video? Networking? Work? Word/excel? Photoshop? Publisher? What is it for?...

*Edit should have noticed that this was an old thread... meh
