Just a question:
Has anyone found decent drivers compatible with Windows 8, that work, for the IDT high definition audio on HP pavilion DV7 laptops?
Thanks

Find your hardware id string for it in device manager then put it in this website. Use the one with unique subsys string, of the 4. Leave out the revision part. Usually 2nd string down from top.
(Properties | Details tab | Change dropdown to say Hardware ids)
The larger drivers with the same date as smaller are x64. Smaller are x86.
Microsoft Update Catalog
You're welcome. Gotta have audio!
hi, I have a similar problem: No sound on Windows 8 pro (9200) installed on hp 620.
Sound card: IDT High Definition Audio.
Pls help
See the procedure in the posts above first. That seems to be the best solution for LATEST drivers.
We both have HP's and if the MS catalog doesn't have any drivers (brand new models), then you'll have to go to HP's site.

Thanks for the response; but I already downloaded the drivers both from ms catalog (didn't work); from HP too and still didn't work.
Funny enough the system shows signs of producing sound (drivers successfully installed, volume control sliding up and down, and even audio meter reading whenever I'm playing any file.) And yet, NO SOUND COMING OUT, neither from the speaker nor thru earpiece.
I'm pretty sure my speaker/ear-phone jacks are working fine: they were working in win 7 right up to the time I switched to win 8.
HP is rapidly updating their site with Windows 8 drivers. Last night, I was able to pull down quite a few for my ProBook 4430s. With regards to IDT specifically, the Windows 7 driver works just fine - I was using that until HP updated their library.
You mean this: "Find your hardware id string for it in device manager then put it in this website. Use the one with unique subsys string, of the 4. Leave out the revision part. Usually 2nd string down from top.
