One USB Port not working

Hello
I have two front facing USB ports on my tower desktop that are both connected to a single 9 pin socket on the motherboard by cable. One port works and the other doesn't.
I've tried to find info on the port in device manager, but I can't figure out which data is referring to the port that's faulty, and the information I've found is not helpful anyway (looking at properties). Is there any other way to isolate the problem?

System Info: Windows 8.1, Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD3R Motherboard (USB 2.0), Coolermaster Elite 333 Case.

Any help would be appreciated
Thank You

Hercules

They all come from same controller so it's either a wire or connectors.

Hello CountMike, and thanks for your response. Looking inside the front section of the case, it looks like the external port connections and the cable would come as part of the case fittings, and are not removable. In view of what you say, I think that my only option will be to try plugging the cable into the other socket (the M/B has two of these). Its not worth getting a cable/bracket arrangement, as I wouldn't be able to fit this at the front.

Yes, most of those front ones come with the case but are removable, you just have to disassemble it. If you need it bad enough or to have more, there's stuff like this: Front Panel USB Port | eBay
