Possible show stopper for W8 -- Intel 965 mobile chipset - no support

    Hi there
still loads of OK laptops using Intel's 965 express mobile chipset stuff.

No support or for WDDM either -- so you are stuck with MS's basic VGA driver -- which isn't mich use on a lot of these laptops.

If someone has got the Intel driver to work properly (it usually fails with an exception - no WDDM support) or equivalent please post how you did it.

Very strange error message there because that's exactly what 8 DOES support. The latest and greatest which is exclusive to 8 is WDDM 1.2. 7 Is WDDM 1.1 and Vista is 1.0.

Install the driver using the device manager. Right click, update driver software, browse my computer, let me pick, have disk, browse.

Find the igdlh64.inf (for 64 bit, obviously - for 32 bit is is igdlh.inf) in extracted Graphics folder then double click on it. Click ok then next and it will install.

Reboot to finish the process, since no video driver was installed previously.

    64 bit:

    32 bit:

Do the same process for the HDMI audio if you have and need that too. That's in the extracted HDMI folder with IntcHDMI.inf, for both 32 or 64 bit.
