Hello, I would like to ask a question.
If you look you'll see that I have an AMD A8-5545M Processor. I would like to upgrade my CPU. To an Intel i5 Preferably.
If I can upgrade my processor, what processors can I upgrade TO?
Thanks!

You would have to first find out if your current motherboard can support a different class of CPU/GPU/APU. Right now you have a Quad Core mobile CPU. Because this is a laptop, there is really going to be no way you would be able to swap out the CPU, since most are soldiered directly onto the motherboard for the laptop.

Note that AMD and Intel CPUs are not interchangeable and you can only use whichever your motherboard is designed for. In many cases laptop CPUs are soldered directly to the motherboard and an upgrade is not practical. Even when socked mounted it can be difficult to determine which CPUs are compatible.

Laptops are not very upgrade friendly.

MCPlayer18, it is very important to realize that AMD and Intel have two very different type of chips and competing companies never make compatible or interchangeable chips or even peripheral drivers of their chips. As mentioned earlier, swapping a CPU in a laptop is a tedious process which is most cases is next to impossible because of close packaging and small layout of motherboards in a laptop.

As I recall we haven't been able to interchange AMD and Intel CPUs since the end of the 80486 versions.

But then this is an older thread by over a month, problem most likely has been resolved or the computer junked.
