My windows 10 64 bit beta computer works out of the box with a HDMI Monitor.

However my Win 8.1 64 bit will not connect to the HDMI monitor, exact same model Samsung monitor.
I have to use the external speakers.

I have been on the net & there are a lot of uses out there with the same problem.
When you search the net or FORUMS the answer is always got to the "Device Manager" or go to the "Control Panel" etc.
No Help!

So I went to my Win 10 Beta computer to see what driver it uses.

It uses:
NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device (Wave Extensible) (WDM)

But the only place you can download it is on one of these FREE drivers Sites!

They put you in a position where you have to take their terms! Even if you try to cancel they will not let you the only way out is Shut Down the Computer! This is not a friendly Web Environments!

Where CAN I download this driver without out being Shanghaied!

I can remember when the forums where they to help solve problems, not to kidnap members to their sites!

You need to get the driver from Nvidia's website, or let Windows 8 just install.

But may not be "full" driver with appropriate programs for setting all the features. Find your card here: Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers and download latest drivers straight from Nvidia. They are free and no special requirements. GeForce Experience Tweaks your Game Settings Automatically | GeForce may also make card setup easier. P.S.
Look at this too. http://www.eightforums.com/graphic-...-geforce-graphics-drivers-windows-8-a-35.html

All:

I checked out the Device Manager on my PC that I set up for Win10 Beta:
My first impression of Win1o Beta is that is was mainly for Techies!

The Win10 Beta provides the information that you would normally have to look into Motherboard Specs to find!

When you display the drivers there are Icons first then the description of the driver!

i.e. for the sound driver for SAMSUNG monitor it has an ICON of a SAMSUNG monitor.
This tells me that the sound goes through the HDMI cable. It also has a number (2) which tells me there are
2 of these drivers installed. When I click on sound there is the second one & the Icon is a speaker.
This is for the rear speaker jack on the back of the PC.
It also has a driver for SPIC out put & the Icon is a black box!

I will still have dig into the motherboard specs to find out who made the sound chip & who made the driver
for my Win 8.1 PC.

It should have been found by the "Update the driver" Applet"

Are you looking at Devices and Printers or Device manager, As far I can see everything is almost same as in W8/8.1 ?
If that's MB from your "My System Specs you have: Realtek® ALC887 8-Channel High Definition Audio CODEC *[SUP]2[/SUP]
- Supports : Jack-detection, Multi-streaming, Front Panel Jack-retasking
sound. and therefore need Realtec sound driver, v2.75 is the latest one. Realtek you should get appropriate controls for it in the Control Panel and taskbar.
That and the rest of MB features you can see at Asus site.
