For what-ever reason, the system information window reports that I have a Core i3 processor, but CPU-Z reports the Core i3 as a Core i5 processor. I want to know why CPU-Z is reporting the processor incorrectly. See the screenshot below:

That is correct. The only difference between an i5 & i3, is how Intel rated the CPU for meeting the spec's. If it does not pass the tests to be an i5, they rated it as an i3. It is the same way that they do with the Celeron's & the parent chip rating. Same as the Intel Core Duo & Pentium.

Just call yourself lucky that you got a good chipset. You can send the results to Intel for them to verify if that batch of CPU's is in fact all rated at the lower i3 rating.

I need a link to download CPU-Z on my system. I believe I have an i3 processor. If not, I will look and see what I have in the morning. Every time I try to download it, it wants to install other junk with it. Speccy wouldn't work on my system. Why? I don't know.

Why do you say this? I don't understand why I should be considering myself lucky for having a good chipset.

It is a known fact that Intel has doe that with their CPU's for a very long time. If your chip is showing rated at the faster CPU or another model, as I stated before, consider yourself lucky.

If you want to verify that is the case, Intel can take the info you send to them, and they can verify that is correct for the batch of chips your CPU came from.

CPUID - System & hardware benchmark, monitoring, reporting

I tried that. But, the CPUID software wont load. It stops at Processors.

Celeron is weaker cousin of Intel Pentium with same core, usually missing part of the cache. Practically speaking, it's partially unsuccessful core re-branded "Celeron" so they don't have to throw i out.
