Solved Intel (R) Driver Update Utility

I downloaded and ran the Intel (R) Driver Update Utility on my ASUS X54C Laptop which is running Win 8.1

I found it at: Intel® Driver Update Utility

I ran the utility and the utility found two updates which I downloaded as per the screenshot below.

My questions are

(1) .. should I install these two updates?
(2) .. is there any risk in installing the updates?

I should mention that I have not had any problems with my laptop and am wondering if I should leave well alone?

The Intel driver update utility is safe. These are Generic drivers though, if your not experiencing any problems there's no need to download them if your X54C came with windows 8. The version changes are minimal the chipset for example is for newer hardware(the x54c is at least 3 years old) and the HD graphic are changes for specific video games/screen hardware. Because they are generic drivers provided from Intel and have not been cleared through ASUS there is always a minimal(however small) possibility that it might cause problems and have to roll back which is easy(happened to me once). Best is to go here and see if there are any updates.

My ASUS X54C came with Win 7, 64-bit supplier-installed, but I took up a MS "reduced-price" offer to upgrade to Win 8 soon after I bought the laptop, and then updated to Win 8.1 when it was offered.

I have not had any specific driver problems, but I have taken note of your suggestion to check on the ASUS site for updated drivers relevant to my X54C. I did that a year or so back, and there were a couple of updates which I downloaded & installed.

I'll check the ASUS site again .. Vielen dank :thumb:
