Go to control panel and find and click on realtek then somewhere in the program there is another small icon to click(can't remember where/which) that brings up a box to put a check for an icon in the system tray.

In my case it's called Lenovo HD Audio Manager and It's here:

If you have Realtek installed, it is always to be found in control panel. For the system tray icon see post #2. This is for the generic driver. On my Lenovo it's automatically there even though I use HDMI and sound is bypassed through my video card and not realtek which is for.

AH HA! See that little gear icon on the upper left? Click that and it should bring up the option for a system tray icon I believe. I was trying to see if you had the "i"(information) icon because on my windows 7 laptop it goes:
Control Panel
double click "Realtek HD Sound Effect Manager"
Click "i" (Information)
Turn off "Show icon in system tray"
OK
Click "i" (Information)
Turn on "Show icon in system tray"
OK

With notification thing do you mean a red speaker icon in system tray? or a notification pop-up. But yeah either plug in your headphones or stereo or speakers and the icon should show up in the tray then right click the icon play with the settings and get them to where you like them. You could always create a short cut to desk top for quick access but that's not as good because that doesn't have the right click menu.

The i over the OK at the bottom right is what I was looking for. Maybe if you page through the manager you can find it somewhere.

Sorry for interjecting here but, perhaps now that the OP has had the Realtek UI open you may be able to find the icon in the Notification Manager.

No yellow icons is good. the boost is for the MOBO not any specific windows version being that its just a driver that tells the software how to communicate the hardware. If you look at some of the drivers some are even pre-windows 7 from 2006.

Sorry for late response, I just woke up. As long as it's not the usb driver itself, no. On my windows 7 laptop ASUS had it's own driver (AsMedia USB 3.0), but not packaged in a suite. I was just thinking that maybe this was their new driver.
