Thanks for taking the time and reading my post. I'll try to give you as many details as possible about my current situation.
So a few weeks back I had issues with my Hiti P510L photo printer on my laptop. It wouldn't recognize the printer via USB cord or even make that notification sound. I tried to reinstall and delete the existing printer drivers on the computer. Well long story short, the printer had to get sent out for repair. The USB connector was damaged.
Now I have the printer back and I am ready to use it. However, when I plug the printer into my laptop, it is displaying the printer in "Other Devices" with the title "USB Photo Printer". It should be under "printer devices" with the printer name. (hiti P510L). I used the installation disc that came with my printer and I get a message that said "Install printer driver fail!". I even downloaded the driver from the manufactures site and that installation gives me the same message. I removed the printer from devices and tried to install the driver without the USB cable plugged in. No luck. I just got done doing "Refresh your PC" under the update and recovery settings and still nothing. I went into Device Manager and got to the printer properties to select Update Driver and I got this message:
"Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it"
I then plugged the photo printer to my desktop that currently has windows 7. Boom, windows installed the driver and everything works perfectly. I even did a print test and no problems.
So whats the deal with Windows 8? and for the printer driver to have so much trouble installing? I have an event this Saturday with the printer so I'm hoping I can resolve this problem. I just got done waiting 4 weeks for the printer to get fixed and now this !
Please help
