Cannot access C:/ after messing with privileges!

I have a problem at the moment with windows 8.1 installed on a virtual machine. My C:/ is giving me access denied and whenever i try to access properties i get 3 options but whenever i press on any the window just freezes. prior to this problem my sister downloaded and installed rosetta stone software(torrrented) on my C:/ but she faced some issues and couldn't use the software. So when i decided to deleted it off the C:/ i couldn't and it said i needed administrator permission ( my account is the only account on the pc) and i had to play around with the privileges to try and delete the file but that didn't work. however,after sometime the local drive suddenly shut and i was locked out of the C:/ but i could use my pc.
