Hello. I have recently bought a Signalex Bluetooth USB Dongle at Poundland in the UK. When plugging in the dongle in my Windows 8.1 laptop some generic drivers get installed. They are called "Generic Bluetooth Radio", which seem to be the default Microsoft drivers. The functionality I get from these drivers is very limited.
A quick Google search for that brand resulted in me finding this very useful blog post:
My boring self-employed life: Signalex Bluetooth Driver Download (Poundland)
The person who posted this bought the same dongle at the same chain at around the same time I did, and also faced the same issue I'm facing: lack of official drivers.
He then searched for drivers to basically get the most out of the dongle, and kindly uploaded a .zip file with all the drivers he had to install to do so. However, he did NOT include any instructions on how to install them. Some people asked for instructions in the comments section but the person never replied to them, and nobody who has succeded in installing them provided any help either. I have uploaded this .zip file for all of you to download so you can see its contents and help me with the installation.
The only thing I could do with the contents of the .zip file was to run the install.bat file, which seems to have done something but I have not seen any additional functionality in the bluetooth getting added.
My computer runs 64-bit Windows. From what I have read from the blog post, the "filter_x64" folder contents are only useful to make the dongle "discoverable" in case Windows cannot detect the device (luckily, I didn't have that problem). What does seem necessary to install is the contents in the "profile_x64" folder. I tried to use the Device Manager to install these files (about 13 files with .sys, .dll and .cat extensions.) with no luck. I use the "use disc" (don't know the name in English, it's "usar disco" in Spanish - my computer runs Windows in Spanish) but that did not work (seems that the files are not being detected.
I hope you people can help me. Thank you very much!!
