Webcam Not Working on Website - Works in 8.1 apps

Hello - I almost went over the edge last night as I was trying to get my laptop webcam and mic to work with a website that essentially gives virtual interviews. The site did not recognize my webcam and would not produce that adobe flash message that you need to agree to for the webcam to become functional.

I tried with Chrome, IE, and Firefox, to no avail. Then I went and used a friend's laptop running Windows 7 and it worked instantaneously.
I tried everything from giving complete "allow" rights to the website to closing down the Camera and S Camera apps that may have been in control of the webcam, to restarting the computer to switching from wireless to ethernet internet connection, and more.

Important to note that the webcam.com website did work with this laptop, as the adobe message box popped up and I could accept it.

I appreciate any help, thanks!

You need to fill in some blanks. What is the mfg & model of the computer? Any third party Internet security software installed? Webcam.com is a malware website, that is pornographic orientated.

Sure, I am using a Samsung ATIV Book 8 laptop. Besides Windows Defender, I use Malwarebytes as an active scanner. Looking at the imaging devices in Device Manager, there seems to be 2 devices: Cannon MG2100 Series and WebCam SC - 10HDP12631N.

Ooops, sorry meant say Test Webcam - testwebcam - check your webcam

As long as your driver for your webcam is installed. Then it will work. You have to keep in mind that the site you are using for video chat, has to allow for connection of the camera & voice.

Any chat program like Skype, Yahoo Instant Messenger, the built in software that came with your laptop. Will allow you to check if the onboard camera is working.

I am not clicking on another spam/malware laden site. So please quit posting them.

there still seems to be some type of mismatch between the site (maybe html code?) as the adobe flash message box does not pop up when using windows 8. The first link I posted was an honest mistake - the site is testwebcam.com (I accidentally left out test in the URL the first time); and the site does exactly that, it tests your webcam. My webcam works on this site just fine, but for whatever reason not the other site, even when I give the it full allowances to access my webcam...just very odd and something that I want to get to the bottom of.

I wish I took a screen shot, but basically the site needs you to do a test record of your webcam before you can proceed to the video essay questions. The test record first attempts to establish a webcam and mic connection, both of which failed for me. Then on the other side of the screen is the adobe flash window that should normally show the message box asking for an allowance, then obviously the webcam output. However, when trying this with windows 8.1, the screen instead just shows an error message.

If you are trying from the Metro/Start screen. Yes Flash will not properly work in a web browser from that interface. It has been a known issue since Windows 8.x.x came out.

If you go into the Desktop mode, and try from there. It may or may not work. Flash days are numbered. Websites at this time, should all be pretty much using HTML5.

Again, as I stated before. If you use a chat agent or skype and the webcam works. Then I really do not know why you are fussing so much over this.

not a spam site - now you're making me doubt your credibility...I'll look elsewhere for help thanks
There is nothing wrong with my credibility. It is just that you keep posting Spam sites, that you are posting for no reason, and will do nothing for you.

I have already stated that if it the camera works fine in chat apps, there is no issue with the webcam. It is a website issue.
