8GB of RAM installed, Windows sees only 4
I'm certain I have the right memory installed. I just noticed that Windows seems to think I only have 4GB installed (I have 8 installed). In doing some research about this, I found that maybe the BIOS needs to be updated. I don't want to update the BIOS unless necessary in order to avoid something getting messed up.

If you are running 32 bit then that's what you get. 32Bit can only see 4GB max.

Firstly double-check
here and
here , if you are using compatible RAM, as you didn't put the whole kit-name into your System Specs.

Check the BIOS and see if all 8GB is recognized in the BIOS. Windows will only recognize what the BIOS recognizes.

Sonar Platinum 64 bit recording studio software with MOTU 896Mk3 Hybrid recording interface unit.
I have memory installed in banks 1 and 3. The BIOS only sees bank 3, therefore, only 4GB of RAM.
So now what do I need to do? Take out the RAM and put it back in? Is one of the sticks bad?

Download AIDA64 and check if both DIMM-Slots are shown as "full", if not swap the Sticks around and check again.
If now a different DIMM-Slot is shown as full, then 1 Stick is most likely faulty.
Make sure that you put them in the right slots too.
