So far I am extremely happy with my Asus table and Windows 8.1. Everything I have tried to do was simple and easy except one thing. Since for some (stupid reason IMO) reason few of the Windows tablets have the GPS enabled :(the ME400C included so i am forced to use a Bluetooth GPS. But I have found few maps that are off line. I have tried about every app I can find and the most promising was HERE that has offline maps but it doesn't seem to support the GPS, at least I haven't been able to get it to see my BT GPS.

Anybody out there found a good combination of the works with a Bluetooth GPS and has offline maps?

Thanks

No external Bluetooth GPS is needed all ME400C Models have a built in "GPS". Look in PC Settings > Networks > Airplane mode > GNSS
GNSS is the Setting which has to be turned on for "GPS" Functions. GNSS ( Global Navigation Satellite System )
In the Windows Store look for the Maps Pro App. I use it it works Great.

Thanks, the more I use it the better I like it, so much better than Android....except I haven't found maps I like. Map Pro is OK but no where as good at Sygic Maps I have for the Android.

How do you stop it from shutting down/sleeping (the screen) when you are using the GPS? Also when you are running the table on A/C/car power it seems it doesn't charge, so is it maintaing the leve of the battery or will it go dead when on car power and I'm using it for GPS?

If your using a Metro App for GPS function the Tablet should not enter sleep but if your using a program that was installed via desktop it will sleep, Walk around for that would be to disable sleep in power settings then revert when you are done using the GPS. It will maintain the level not go dead. The tablet will charge when connected to any power source when the screen is off. I am using my ME400C as a Chart Plotter now, I'm Fishing off of Sandy Hook on the Jersey Shore :D
I'm tethered to my HTC Droid Incredible as we speak its only 3G though.

This was the response I got from Asus when I asked them about the GPS function of the ME400C. Show the real value of outsourced customer support.

I am sorry ME400C has no GPS.

#2
TF600 and TF810C has the GPS function. But the OS of TF600 is Win RT. TF810C has Windows 8 OS.

Thank you.

I'm Sorry to hear that your ME400C GPS Function is not working for you, may be a defective unit.
I have 5 units mine work fine.
ASUS does NOT Support the Function of GPS on this Tablet, at the time of release in November 2012 it was NOT Supported in Windows 8 Operating System, Now it is.
Again Sorry you don't believe me.

Sorry, you misunderstood ...................I was just showing you what Asus support said. It's working fine and thanks to you cause had I listened to Asus I would have just assumed it didn't.
