Optimisation of eMMC drive on windows 8.1 tablet.(Me400c)

Hi all ,
Have purchased the Asus ME400C 64g .
the internal eMMC device is a Sandisk sem64g.
With the factory installed windows 8 upgraded to 8.1 (after getting windows updates working!!)
I was unable to use the disk optimisation tool in windows ..

Optimisation not Available

this was on all drives and partitions

I have performed a clean install of 8.1 update 1, installed latest bios and drivers from asus and am still unable to perform optimisation ?
Optimisation.PNG

Am I doing something wrong here guys or am I missing something ?
I have been searching online for hours and have found no real answer of why its not available .
Should it be available or not ? Lol

Thanks Hopefully ☺

Windows 8.1 SSD Settings

Whether you installed Windows 8.1 on an SSD or moved Windows 8.1 to an SSD, or upgraded from Windows 8 to 8.1 all that is required is to run wisat.
This tool discovers you have Windows 8 installed on and SSD and adjusts the appropriate system settings (see below).
Most users see the output of this via the Windows Experience Index.
You should run this tool if:
1 – You’ve just installed Windows 8.1 (and you want the system optimized immediately or just want to be sure it is run)
2 – If you’ve moved Windows 8.1 to an SSD
3 – You upgraded from Windows 8 to 8.1
4- You messed with any settings related to “SSD tweaks”
5 – You aren’t sure if your system is optimized for an SSD.
To run WinSat:
Open Run then type winsat formal and click OK

Check after doing this you should be good to go with Windows Trimming your drives.

Another way to check is to:
Open Command Prompt and run it as Administrator.Type the following at command prompt and press enter:
fsutil behavior query DisableDeleteNotify

If you get:

  • DisableDeleteNotify = 0 : TRIM is already enabled and working in Windows

But if you get:

  • DisableDeleteNotify = 1 : TRIM is not enabled

To enable SSD TRIM support type the following at command prompt and press enter:
fsutil behavior set DisableDeleteNotify 0

Yep tried that.... No changes..

Then I try

ran cmd
defrag C: /O

And it tells me that the hardware is not supported ...

"The operation requested is not supported by the hardware backing the volume. (0x8900002A)"

I have googled this error code and a user has had the problem where he deleted partitions but didn't format before installing the new OS...
Just wondering if I fully format and retry install might help.

Another user has also pointed out that his emmc is Samsung and he is able to use optimisation?
Would be interesting to see how many variants of emmc there are in these tablets and whether they can utilize optimisation or not ?
Please point all owners here if possible .
Thanks

I have backed up the wim file on the recovery partition and after the issues with the factory install I formatted and clean installed windows 8.1 update 1

I think something went wrong with your Clean Install. I know it would be a hassle but you just might have to redo your install to correct this problem. A friend of mine also has a ME400C and hers work with the Disk Optimization also.
Or Sandisk does Not Support Trim

Hmmm is hers a Samsung drive too ? I wonder ...
I need to get clarification from someone that has the SanDisk sem64g installed before I format again..
This issue was present in the factory installed windows too so I think there is more too it ..
The exact model number on the box is..
ME400C-1A043W

REFURBISHED .. I'm in the uk

Ours are also Refurbished direct from ASUS. There is a possibility that if your was Refurbished by an Outside Vendor and Resold they could have replaced the Original Samsung EMMC with the Sandisk

Yeah just typical ... I just got it all set up nicely, how I want now I gotta wipe it again and live without it for upto a month.
Suppose I'll have to do the DIY tasks instead of fiddling with this haha.
Took me an hour to get the screen protector on perfectly too !!!!!
Bah!
Hope to chat soon with good news too

Nope....I am now going round in circles with these guys !

They are useless ..

First guy said format it then rma.
filled in rma.
then I get an email that invoice is unacceptable.
Send new copy and called again..
next email tells me they dont support third party products. Which tells me they didnt read my email properly.
Emailed again and called to verify.
told that its being rma'd
then another email from them with links to different forums including this one on ssd tweaks wtf lol.
exchanged a few more emails and called again ..told that its been passed to HQ and have heard nothing since.......
except silly surveys asking how the service has been !!! Very annoying lol!!!

So as you can see I'm not overly impressed with ASUS right now..
I hope no other devices go wrong there are 4 Asus ones here lol could be the last time I buy their products if they cant support them.
