Realtek PCIe GBE Family Driver Issues and Internet Speed

Ok .. well it is pretty simple, maybe. I have found that my internet sometimes slows .. to like 5 Mb/s, where normally it is around 18 Mb/s.

The solution .. to uninstall the Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller Driver from device manager and reboot. My internet .. all of a sudden goes back to the normal 18-20 Mb/s speed.

The driver is the Microsoft Driver .. ver 8.1.510.2013 dated 2013-05-10

Looking for thoughts. Nothing else changes .. and my internet speed is instantly tripled.

I am using Speedtest.net to measure my internet speed.

EDIT .. I downloaded a new driver ver 8.18.621.2013 from ASUS and it was slightly newer. But my performance was worse ... and I removed it and rebooted and my internet speed increased substantially.

If that's your only network adapter it must have reinstalled driver after reboot.

But why does my internet slow down by itself .. causing me to have to reinstall that device ?

I understand that it re-installs it .. that is fine, but why do I need to do it in the first place.
