I have recently purchased a new HP Officejet Pro 8620 and am currently having problems actually using it.

I have already installed the full-feature driver from the HP website but the printer does not appear in devices and printers. However my printer does appear in print dialog and the device manager. I have tried adding the printer through devices and printers but it has no effect.
devicemanager.pngprintdialog.png
When I try to print anything through print dialog or any application for that matter no print job is sent. Basically I can't print anything from my computer now.

I have already re-installed the driver multiple times only to come up with similar results.
Please note that this is for my main computer which is a HP Envy dv7. Also I have connected to the printer via the wireless router option.

However for my second computer which is a Dell XPS 12 everything worked fine right from the start which also connected to the printer wirelessly.

Hi Bozodo and welcome to the forum. Have you tried uninstalling and deleting the drivers then doing a add printer in Devices and Printers to see if it finds it and installs drivers that work?

Also if a secure network you will have to go into the menu on the printer and enter the security pass phrase. You should get a message on the printer screen that it successfully connected to the network.

I uninstalled the driver and added the printer through Devices and Printers. I installed it with the driver disk and it still did not add the printer to my Devices and Printers. With that I am still unable to send any print jobs to my printer with my main computer.

When I tried adding the printer a second time after uninstalling the printer from the Device Manager I was only given the choice to use a driver that was currently installed or replace the driver. Both choices being ineffective at doing anything.

When you go to the menu on the printer, does it show connected to the network? What does it show for an IP address? Are you using wired or wireless?

In the "Devices and Printers " Window, after selecting Add, you most probably got a dialogue at the bottom "The printer that I want isn't listed". (?)
Did you try clicking there and, in the following window, selcting the middle option "Add a Bluetooth wireless or network discoverable printer"
AQfter clicking "next", it should find the printer.

Yes I have tried adding a Bluetooth wireless or network discoverable printer but it doesn't show up.

However with the full-feature driver installed it does show up on the list when I click "Add a printer". The problem is even when I do add the printer it still is not added to the "Devices and Printers" list and I am still unable to print anything from my main computer.

As you can see here my printer is listed but even when I try adding it with the full-feature driver installed it fails to work correctly and I am left unable to print anything from my computer.

I would like to reiterate that this is only occurring to my main computer. I have a second computer where I can send print jobs to this printer just fine.

Sorry if this sounds elementary but, after the picture you show, what message do you get when you click "next"?

I have had this problem since Windows 8, with a couple of older printers on my Lan.I went through the procedure, as you have done, to add a printer. The printers did appear. In the end, on an article I read on the Technet pages, I switched off and started again and low and behold, in both cases, there were the printers. The article (sorry, I googled but cannot track it down now), it pointed out the obvious. When you restart, under the normal default, Windows does not necessarily recognise any very recent work, as it is restarting from the hibernate file. So it is required to switch off and make a cold boot. Maybe worth a try?

After clicking next windows tells me a driver is already installed and I am presented with 2 radio buttons. The first one says "Use the driver that is currently installed" and the second one says "Replace the current driver". I have tried both options with neither of them helping my situation.

I performed a cold boot after attempting to add the printer and it did nothing.

Looking at the Device Manager, You have triple entries of the same printer, 2 were marked with yellow exclammation marks meaning it was not installed correctly. Try to uninstall those 2 and test print again.

If it still fails. Double check if you have the latest firmware installed for this printer and also download and run the printer diagnostic tool.

I uninstalled those two entries in my device manager and re-installed the latest driver for my computer. The firmware on my printer is up to date.

I have used the HP Print and Scan Doctor but it tells me there are no apparent issues.
hpprintscandoc.png

When I try sending a test print I see the printer queue in the bottom of the screen and it tells there are 0 documents pending. After a few seconds the print notification disappears and there is no test page left in my printer.

I can't even open the print queue since the only right-click option is to go Devices and Printers where my printer is not even there.

noprint.pngrightclick.png

Clicking no print does nothing except for ask me to do an internal printer print test which works fine.

I ended up doing a system refresh and it cleared up my problems. Now all I need to do is reinstall all my applications...

To everyone who came to assist me thank you for assisting me with my issue.
