Hi, please I need help. I own an hp pavilion sleekbook 15. Just out of the blue my mouse and touch pad stopped working after a restart. I download a new driver from the hp website, synaptic touch ps/2, installed it and still nothing. After several tries I don't know what to do anymore. I checked the device manager and nothing is installed, when I check the control panel it says reinstal

Hi ProcuradorGeral,

So in your control panel under mouse does it have a touch pad at all? Is it enabled in the BIOS, as I know some laptops give you that option to disable it. By mouse stopped working do you have an external mouse? Is it USB?

Regards

Ending

Some laptops have a button you can push to disable the touchpad. Look around and see if yours does.

Thanks for the reply, when you turn on your laptop try hitting F1, F8, or F10. I am unfamiliar with the HP Pavilion BIOS so you may have to have a look around, if it is present in the BIOS it will be something like "Internal Touch pad" or similar.

It might also be worth like Ztruker suggested and check to see if you have just disabled it with the button:

- If I remember correctly in the top left of the Pavilion's touchpad there is a little button, if you tap that it can turn it on, it might be worth checking that.

- Other than that you may have one above the touch pad, or as one of the F number keys (Hold FN button and click on the F key).

I'm having similar problems. But I just figured out what was wrong with mine after much head banging. I had to use a mouse, since windows had done some update and turned my touchpad off! I rolled back the update to the touchpad, and got it half working, but without the side scroll function which I like.

After I had rolled back the update I was checking online for solutions and the picture was showing me to click on device settings under mouse. But after the roll back there was no option for device settings.

So I installed the update again, used the mouse and went back and hey presto, the option for device settings was there. And that was what surprised me most. The Synaptics Touchpad was disabled... Way to go Windows...

Hope that helps somewhat.
