guys I have a botched system so I uninstalled chipset drivers and graphics drivers.
this is a HP laptop with the A10 APU, Hudson-2/3/4 [I have no idea what that means] according to HWInfo.
it has usb 3.0 support, etc modern stuff.
I note that installing the Display drivers BEFORE getting the chipset right results in a lot of frustrating errors.

and, no, HP is confused by AMD also apparently, as they don't even list a chipset driver.
with a lot of web searching I was able to find one lone amd page that lists a recent rev of some sort of "chipset drivers" [they call it that] package, it is named "14-4-win7-win8-win8.1-32-64-sb.exe".
this executable installed, but I got errors later [win errors]. at least it removed the bang on the usb 3.0 bridge/part but the overall result was unstable. maybe I did it wrong?

pls help.

Hudson is code name of that AMD APU series of processor which includes graphic processor GP one one chip. Where did you get that 14.4 driver from ? It should have taken care of chipset and GPU if HP did not make some changes to it, in which case it woud have to be driver HP released expressly for that model of the computer. What are those "win errors" you are getting ? That should provide some answers about what is wrong.

actually Hudson is the chipset moniker and there are a bunch of iterations [8 or so..]
it finally dawned on me that I needed to start with that package again but choose 'custom' install so I could see what it was up to. it did install the usb hub etc including the 3.0 device. I disallowed the SATA driver this time because the error I was getting was a Error 129 "Raid Port 0" error and it was coming frequently, freezing the system for 30 seconds or so each time. highly unacceptable.

the other thing is the absence of AMD overdrive as an option in the control panel. why? Its not that I need to overclock the upper band but the best workaround for the "Display Driver Stopped Responding" timing error is to adjust idle clock values as its 'off idle' calls that trigger that frequently noted error.
Apparently those options are "there" but are disallowed as an issue of permissions???? I have not been able to sort that one either but there is a lot of chatter about it on the web going back through the whole history of CCC.
How to uncork that?

Then there's this one - I get these in pairs:
The server {BF6C1E47-86EC-4194-9CE5-13C15DCB2001} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.
Error 10010

EDIT: looks like the above is gen'd by the Skydrive app, which I don't use. I'll uninstall it and see.

And finally, I get Bluetooth Hub errors. Apparently in Windows 8, via PC Settings you can indeed turn "off" BT - I assume that means the radio is powered-off, but the rest of the subsystem is not thus informed, so its still sending keep alive calls or something to the BT Hub.

In AMD newer drivers CCC is called AMD vision Engine control center and depends on .NET to work fully, with OC and other settings. I'm not sure about that driver you are using now, most of their names start with "amd_catalyst_......"
