hp officejet 5610v not installing

I have an HP OfficeJet 5610v printer and I can't get it to install in windows 8. I've downloaded the full driver/software package from HP. After the download completes and is extracted then I get the window to choose to install by clicking the install tab...but there is no install tab. Just an exit tab. Are we going to go through printer driver fiasco like we did when vista first came out...lordy I hope not.

I've got the same phenomenon for the 5610 all-in-one (just in Hebrew :)
Have you solved that ?

What I ended up doing was uninstalling and then reinstalled, but I installed it in compatibility mode using windows 7. Hope this helps.

Same thing happened to me, Try "Run as administrator" or running the setup in compatibility mode. I can't remember which option I used. I eventually got my F4180 Deskjet installed but the apps still wouldn't work right. Ink levels were unavailable and some other weird things happened. I eventually just gave up and uninstalled it all again.
