I like the old style wireless Logitech keyboard and mouse that runs on Windows 7. Will it work on a Windows 8 tablet? I haven't bought the tablet yet. I'm 65 years old and a novice by the way. I need an Answer for Dummies
It probably will work if the Tablet has a standard USB port on it. Because of the size [thinness of the case] many Tablets won't have it and I've not had occasion to get adapters to try it with mine. Places like BestBuy sell keyboards made just for Tablets but usually are not as cheap as PC wireless keyboards.
I have numerous Logitech keyboards and trackballs running on my Windows 8.1 PC's and laptops. They are all use the Unifying USB dongle. They work without installing any software too. As long as you have one full size USB port I would think it should work.
If you don't have a full size USB you can use an adapter like THIS ONE and then connect your keyboard to it.
You may not power more than one device from it (depends on the tablet) if not you have two alternatives.
Use something like the the logitech K400 which is a keyboard with a built in Trackpad
Use a POWERED usb hub that you can connect more than one device to (keyboard, Mouse)
You can link devices to just the one Logitech Unifying Receiver so you could get away with just the one dongle for a keyboard and a mouse. You don't have to buy them as a linked pair either. On my desktop I have a K350 keyboard and a M570 trackball running off of the one unifying receiver. They were each bought separately. The keyboard came with a mouse that I don't use. The mouse has the original receiver with it so its usable by itself. I'm going to give the Mouse to my father as I'll never use it.
