Anyone have an IOCrest PCIe SATA33 III card that works?

I have an 8 port PCIe IOCrest card on a Windows 8.1 on an UEFI bios motherboard. I bought it from this

Notes:
Hangs for 20-30 seconds if no HDD/SSD is connected to the card.
Not a symptom of being defective.
SATA ports are bootable.
Supports Optical Drives. <---------
Supports 3TB/4TB GPT drives

in the description.

I didn't have an X2 slot so I used an X16 slot. Switched on and waited through the delay as expected. Switched off and plugged in a 3Tb HDD and a Bluray burner. Switched on and waited an EXTRA 90 second display.

My system used to boot in about 30 seconds, now it took about 2 minutes.... :(

I could see the HDD okay but couldn't see the Bluray burner. Tried a few switch ons and offs - no improvement.

Contacted Uittek from whom I bought the card. Got rudeness and the ONLY help they could/would give - "Our engineers say it should work on Windows 8 driver". Contacted Shenzhen IOCrest (the manufacturer) and left a support request and got nothing (no reply) from them.

Uittek claimed that Windows 8.1 was "too new" in one of their emails so I suspect the card may not work on Windows 8.1. I have a Windows 7 system but I really don't want the card in my OLD system so can't see the point in trying it there.

Anyone have any reactions/experiences to this or a similar IOCrest SATA3 III card? In the States the card is sold under the brand SYBA USA?

I REALLY want this card and want it to work but have I been sold a lemon? :(

I certainly won't suggest anyone buy it from Uittek :(

WOW! That's interesting to hear :)

Do you have a DVD or Bluray plugged into the card?

Do you use the standard Win8.1 driver or did you load the driver that came with the card?

There's hope for me (I hope) :sarc:

I am only using SATA HD's on the card at present.

I am using the latest drivers from Marvell, version 1.2.0.1041. The card I have uses the 88SE92XX controller. (9235 I believe).

Marvell MV-91xx/92xx SATA 6G Controller Drivers Version 1.2.0.1041 WHQL

Since you didn't give the part number of the card you have, I can't tell you if you have the same controller or not.

Again, WOW! :)

You are very well informed. :D

You are also correct, it is the

IOCrest 8 Internal SATA III Ports PCI-Express Card, PCI-e x2 Slot, Specification V2.0 Plus Low Profile Bracket SI-PEX40071

and 92XX rings a bell.

Like I said I use the standard Windows 8.1 driver that was automatically loaded by the OS on detection of the card. I have been hesitant to load another driver as I have the Asus Deluxe Dual motherboard which already has 10 SATA III ports. These 10 ports come in 2 banks so I have 3 AHCI Controllers in Device Manager. I am worried I may update the driver in the wrong controller as they ALL use the same driver (I think).

Does your "bootup" have a delay? As I also said, mine went from about 30 seconds (without the card) to about 107-117 seconds (with).

My first 6 ports are Intel chipset based and are the only ports that support RAID. The other 4 ports (ASMedia I think) also DON'T support optical drives so I must plug my Bluray into the IOCrest controller except it doesn't work there :(

I MUST update my drivers (carefully) in the hope that my Bluray drive will then work and the delay fixed????

Thank you for your very helpful replies :D

I have no delay that I can attribute to the card. I do have four drives attached, though.

To update the driver on just that card, do it from the Device manager. If you need specific instructions, let me know.

Thanks for the offer :)

I WAS going to try and interpret maker and such then I noticed 2 of the AHCI controllers were timestamped 14/04/2014 (when I first powered on the computer and loaded the OS) and the last timestamped 03/05/2014 when I first plugged the card in.

I have plugged in 2 X 3Tb drives and still have the delay. :(

Hopefully this will go away when I update the driver.

Thanks you for all your help for the moment. Will revisit if and when I update the driver :D

Yes, they were formatted AND used in a Windows 7 desktop....

My case, Antec Nineteen Hundred, supports 12 internal HDDs, 2 SSDs and 3 optical drives. Besides the above 2 3Tb drives I currently have 4 X 4Tbs. Eventually I intend to have 12 HDDS installed internally. :D

Well, I managed to steal a few minutes from my babysitting duties to load the driver from the link you kindly included.

Just had enough time to "reboot" but it shaved a few seconds off the "boot up" time. :(

Haven't had time to plug an optical device into it yet, will do that this evening. I have the morning off tomorrow so will have a good "play" then....

The entry in Device Manager moved from IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers/Standard SATA AHCI Controller to Storage controllers/Marvell 92xx SATA 6 G Controller +Marvell Storage Virtual Device surprisingly.... :D

Got home and transfered the Bluray Player/Recorder to the card and it works :D Also checked the delay.... Still there a couple of seconds less but still over a minute and a half :( So the effective delay is just under 70 seconds :(

Any ideas about reducing this? :sleepy: (just before midnight) :sleepy:
