in windows 7 missing drivers were automatically install upon restart,is this missing in win 8.1?

Yes they do if not completely uninstalled, just like in Win7. It's a good idea to have computer connected to internet at the time.

if you have removed your driver cabinet from system32.. ( default windows drivers ) it won't detect anything.. if you're connected to the internet.. windows will install automatically only!! if you didn't turn off the driver automatic install option
