Hi there all
try this tiny webcam app if you are having trouble getting a webcam to work on your laptop (Internal USB based ones).

Usually the built in ones have trouble working in newer versions of Windows. It's a Portable app so nothing to install -- can run it off your usb stick if you want.

I copied off my W2003 server VM -- essentially its an XP app but still works even on W8 Consumer preview X-64

Just double click the app and you should see your ugly mug in the webcam window.

I haven't YET found a laptop this doesn't work on.

It's a stand alone app so if you are looking for something to integrate say into something like "Netmeeting" then you'll have to use something else.

Cheers
jimbo
