Hello all,
I have a new laptop that I got a couple months ago. I am having issues with certain devices when I hook them up via USB. My laptop has 1 USB 2.0 port and 2 USB 3.0 ports. It doesnt matter which port I hook them up to, they do the same thing. So far, I have seen it only happen with my android smartphone and my external USB DVD writer.
So far, I have traced the issue down to a power issue. Both devices according to the device manager are pulling about 500 mA which is the limit for each port. I have three USB flash drives, 2 USB 2.0 and one USB 3.0 and they work fine in each or the ports. No issues at all. My USB wireless mouse works fine in each port, no issues. I have tried disabling the 3.0 controller and forcing the ports to work in 2.0. Ive tried updating the drivers, but I cant seem to find any updated drivers and as of right now it seems there are no updates for the BIOS either.
Anyone else see this and fix it, or have any ideas of what I can do? Its really irritating because it makes it hard to use my DVD writer or work with files on my android phone.
