I was thinking of getting a Wacom Bamboo tablet for my wife for her presentation work, but I was curious to know if the tablet would be supported by Windows 8 as a touch device? I try searching but can't find detail to know if it's supported.

I'm using a Wacom Bamboo Pen and Touch right now with W8, the touch feature won't work for the reasons paulsiu posted but the pen works just as a finger, when you use it for the first time (affter installing the driver) the mouse cursor will change and there will be an option in the taskbar for an on-screen keyboard.

I installed the Windows 7 driver from Wacom's site. Installed it in compatibility mode for W7 and it works.

By the way, Windows 8 CP default drivers don't work for the pen, just for the touch (at least for me).

Just incase anyone else reads this and is put off.... a lot of time has elapsed since then, drivers have come a long way, and the Wacom Bamboo Pen + Touch should now be working.
I will verify that tomorrow and come back with a full report

Any update on this ? I briefly tried Win8 in a VM and was not impressed. I have a bamboo touch and the prospects of it working with a bamboo touch intrigue me. It might make it worth it to use win8 as long as games are compatible.

Thanks,

Oh yeah actually I can update, seems to work mostly pretty well, multitouch works and the pen works.
I guess I never used one on Windows 7 so I cant really compare in that regard, but it seems to do everything it should do, and I am sure the drivers will mature over time as well.

The Bamboo Pen and Tablet works on Windows 8 but the Windows keyboard doesn't pop up. I check Add Windows features and Tablet PC is not on the list. What should I do?

Im pretty sure when I installed mine it enabled it by default, but you may have the tablet PC services disabled?
If you press Windows+R to get a run command box, type in services.msc and press enter or click ok, it should show you a list of all of your running/enabled services, check to see what the tablet services are set to?

TabletServicePen is on and set to automatic. There are no other services for tablets. Is there supposed to be more?

Remnkemi - how are you finding the Bamboo tablet with Win8? Despite MS's efforts, I'm finding Win8 to be cumbersome with trackpad input on my notebook so am thinking of picking up a Wacom CTT460 Touch - is your tablet input masking Win8 work better?
Thx

I don't have a Bamboo tablet, but a Trust one. It works, but hot corners are impossible to use, making Windows 8 very frustrating to use.

WACOM Bamboo

I tried the Wacom Bamboo on my computer. DL the latest(?) driver for Win 7; nothing for windows 8. Went to the tutorial found that finger OK but the pen no go. No matter if I choose pen and used the Off/On finger button.

Maybe there will be a Windows 8 diver next year.

Since november Wacom has released new Windows8 drivers for their products. Now you can use the Wacom as if you had a touchscreen. Pretty cool I must say!

I'm using the Bamboo Pen&Touch version and almost never use the conventional mouse.

You can find the latest drivers at www.wacom.eu

Thank You for the update. I have downloaded it and will install soon. Aha, Arnhem. The movie, A bridge Too Far.

Happy and prosperous New Year.

You're welcome!!!

Ha ha, yes the movie indeed. Although you must know it was mainly filmed in Zutphen because by the time they made the movie the bridge in Arnhem, as well as the surroundings, had been refurbished. In Zutphen there was a bridge that looked just like the Arnhem bridge did during the war.

And a happy New Year for you to offcourse!
