I am in the process of shopping for a new laptop, and I'm seriously considering the Acer Aspire V7-582PG-6479. I've listed here the specs most important to me:

Windows 8.1 64-bit
(No other software pre-installed!)
Intel Core i5-4200U
8 GB DDR3L memory
16 GB SSD for quick boot; 500 GB hard drive (more than enough!)
15.6" display; 1920 x 1080 resolution
NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M with 4GB DDR3 VRAM
3 USB ports (1-3.0; 2-2.0)
card reader
6.5 hr battery
Weight 4.85# (I want portability, so weight and battery life are important.)
Purchase price under $1000

I'd really appreciate any feedback/comments about Acer in general and this rig in particular! Thank you.

I currently own an Acer Ultrabook an I must say it's a good choice. They also offer great support over on there web forum.

Three USB ports is a plus as well. Mine only has two, an a third would come in very handy.

My only complaint would be the webcam. It's not even close to HD quality. However, everything else is a 10. :)

Thanks for the reply! I'm happy for your good report, and, since, I have no interest in the webcam, the model looks like a good choice. Having a good support forum is definitely a plus.

I too can support an Acer purchase. I bought my self an Acer Aspire P3 for Christmas, and it has been wonderful. Not quite as "peppy" as yours, but it will do what I wanted it to do. Extremely mobile!

I am really glad for the positive responses! I'll keep the thread open for a while yet, just in case there's some opposing viewpoints, but at this point I'm pretty well sold on this laptop. Thank you all!
