Update: Win 8.1 is installed. What type of cables are used for the touch function to work on the PC? Is it the standard cable plus a USB cable for the touch function? I don't think my tower has a HDMI input.

Hello, I plan to purchase Windows 8 to install it on my Desktop computer that came equipped with Windows 7 home premium64Bit. I'm actualling going to do a dual boot configuration. Windows 7 home premium 64Bit on one partition and Windows 8 on another partition.

I'm not sure how the touch monitor is going to work when I purchase the touch monitor. Will be using the current non-touch monitor for the mean time. Does the monitor have the standard monitor cable and and the USB cable for the touch function? I just want to make sure that the touch funtion will work before investing on the Windows 8 $119 version (not the pro version) and touch monitor.

Should I be concerned? Upgrade assistant detailed report of my desktop:

I just got a new Dell touch screen monitor. I image all the new monitors will have the following monitor connections: Display Port, HDMI, DVI and VGA. My monitor came with a HDMI cable and a USB 3.0 cable. From the research I did before hand, you want to use either Display Port or HDMI, they will give you the best resolution. For the touch screen to function, you have to have USB 3.0 on your computer. The one mistake I made that drove me crazy for a full day is do NOT plug in the USB cable until after you have the drivers installed. I was building a totally new computer and trying to install Win 8.0. I thought I had a defective MB because none of the USB ports would work properly. Finally unplugged the USB cable, and was able to install and update the computer, then the monitor worked perfectly.

Thanks for the feedback, I will have to double check if I have USB 3.0.
