So i got windows 8 on my lenovo g580 laptop but it turns out that it is not compatible with a bunch of programs that I would like to use, so I decided to go back to windows 7 like I previously had.
I got the Windows 7 upgrade advisor and it says that my Lenovo ACPI-Compliant Power Controller is not compatible with windows 7 and so I run into an error every time I try to install windows 7, does anybody know of another driver I could get or maybe some other way to solve this problem? I also heard thru other reaches of the internet that some windows 8 computers aren't compatible with windows 7 could that be the problem. Thank you for reading I really appreciate any help.

If nothing else helps, install Windows 7 in virtual with VMware Player. Then you have no driver problems and you can run both systems side by side. Here is a side by side demo - it is only the other way around (8.1 on a 7 host) but that is basically the same.

Lenovo has got to have some utility install for that, I assume.

Edit: Ya for sure. I just checked.

Sure thing, you're welcome. Just install newest they have; other steps not needed.

I dunno. Try disabling antivirus first or use Device Manager to install, if it extracts to a folder or to the temp folder.

See if you downloaded for the correct model and didn't make a mistake. (Really no reason it should say that.)

Maybe reboot so the OS is fresh, or try to install in safe mode.

Just a few ideas.
