Hard drive recognized but not usable

I built my computer a couple weeks ago and am running windows 8.1. I currently have a 128gb SSD and a 1tb internal hard drive (WD Caviar Blue) I obviously used the ssd to boot windows and currently windows is detecting my 1tb hard drive but it is not usable. I have tried diskpart commands to clean and format and I keep getting the error message "DiskPart has encountered an error: The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error". The hard drive was brand new and cables are fine. This is what everything looks like... Screenshot (1).png

Pleeeeease help :) or is it possible the hard drive is fried and should return it?

Appreciate any time and concern.

Thanks

Man, sorry to say, that it doesn't look good. I had a WD drive fail on me when a video card went berzerk causing it: That is the exact error message for a failed drive.

You can try running Spinrite or HDD Regenerator on it. If they won't run on it at all, you could bet your bottom dollar that the drive is failed.

Perhaps you can switch out the pcb board with another drive that's precisely the same to fix it.

Quick question: Did you try changing the drive to a non-GPT, simple, basic NTFS volume first?

(I'm not overly familiar with GPT and UEFI bios and all that jazz since I've never owned that type of hardware. Maybe TheOG, SIW2 or some other member can say something on it.)

Another thought: Perhpaps if you use Killdisk on the drive, it will overwrite any corruption and the drive will be close to brand new condition - absence of files, speaking.

Well I just went to open my disk management again and it automatically brought up creating a new simple volume. It actually went further than it has before, allowing to change it to a non-GPT format but still it is unable to format to NTFS and will not format successfully. It is currently Healthy (Primary Partition) but in the RAW format. Any suggestions to format to NTFS since it is failing to do so. Current state appears like so...Screenshot (2).png

Thanks

Some Acronis or Easus product. If you try one, make sure only latest (because of drivers.) Maybe Acronis Disk Director or Easus Partition Master.
