I use touch keyboard often and today I noticed that it's blank (see screenshot). If I maximize it to the wide layout I quickly see the keyboard and then it goes black again. Any ideas as to what this could be? My windows 8.1 installation is two days old and I've been installing stuff all day. Previously, I had no issues with this since day one of Windows 8.1's release.

When I see Windows perform this way its typically one of two problems.

There is a problem with the graphics (video driver). Have you tried to update it? Or maybe even "rolled back" to an older one if you upgraded it recently?

Or, the resolution (or color depth) isn't standard.

Sometimes, a simple reboot fixes these issue. If you've played a graphics intensive video game or even
played a DVD or an MKV movie, it can cause the video to act erratic. Happens on my Lenovo laptop
all the time. Rebooting after playing your game or watching your video will solve it.

Thanks. I've decided to reinstall my windows system, which means a dell factory reset back to Windows 8... lots of updates and software installs ahead of me. The touch keyboard works now, but if it breaks, I'll hopefully catch the app/update that did it.

I hope you tried a system restore before taking such drastic action.
You might have saved yourself a lot of work.

I'm actually pretty much back up to date now on my software - some large games still have to download from steam and Origin, but that's not a big deal - my data had already been backed up.

The keyboard is working and I'm just finishing up on the lasted video driver - we'll see if anything breaks.

I expected things to take a lot longer to setup again, but since I had already gone through the process a few days ago, I had everything setup - just had to click/install/click/install/update/install... LOL
