Webcam drivers for Dell Inspiron 15z 5523?

My computer was beeping on start up and would start beeping randomly while the computer was on. Sometimes it would beep non-stop and I would have to disable the internal speaker. I updated the bios and that fixed the problem, but my webcam driver and internal mic driver isn't working anymore. I've been looking around and I can't find anything. So, I came here in hope that someone can help.

I'll provide any additional information if needed.

Hi Legended,

Do you have any yellow exclamation marks in device manager?:

If so, you could try installing the updated audio driver (from Dell) for the mic problem; however, I don't see any specific download for the webcam, so you can either search Winodw Update for an optional driver download or try installing a simple 3rd-part webcam utility and that might fix your issue with the webcam.

Also, even if you don't have any exclamation marks in device manager, I would still consider the above recommendations as well. However, there may be a few better options forthcoming from other forum members but this (at least) this can give you a place to start. Good luck.

I got a yellow exclamation mark under other devices, but I'm not sure what that other device is. Where is the audio driver? I've been to the dell drivers for this particular model before, but I didn't find the audio drivers unless I'm over looking it.

The yellow exclamation mark is an unidentified device; however, it may be recognized under the Sound, Video and game Controllers or the Audio Inputs and Outputs once the driver is installed.

And yes, the driver is there under the Windows 8 x64 drop-down menu (I assume you are x64):

I downloaded the audio drivers, but the internal mic is still not working. I tested it on Skype.

Did it fix that exclamation point in device manager? Can you open this view and see what' there?

Go to Control Panel> Sounds> clcik Recording Tab and provide a screenshot please:

In the sound option it shows the microphone, but it says currently unavailable. Is there a way to fix it threw properties?

You did install them; correct? Again, did it make any difference in device manager? Could you expand both views (audio at the top and sound near the bottom) of device manager and post a screenshot please.

Yes, go back to that other view and right click to see if you can simply enable it. If not, since you just flashed you BIOS, some audio option could have been set back to a default value. For example, I have an onboard HDMI audio option that I can enable or disable in my bios. Check there also.

Okay, I enabled it, but when I test it out on Skype the person on the other end can't hear anything.

Where did you enable it? what does it look like now in the enabled view? Did you try and reboot after enabling it?

It allows me to enable it and the bar on the side of "Microphone Array" spikes when I speak, but Skype my friend still can't hear me on the other end.

OK, you got it working again and that's about the best help I can give you right now because I have to hit the sack; however, since I'm not a Skype user, I cannot tell you how to proceed from here but it is working so good luck with the Skype part. I gotta go now. Good luck.

Need Help to repair Webcam Driver

Model: Dell Inspiron 15z 5523

I've been working on this all night and still can't get it working. Just now It was working for a minute. It appeared under Device Manager as Imaging devices, but now it's labeled as "Other Devices". An error message prompt up on the bottom-right corner of the screen saying there is a problem with the usb device. I tested the webcam while it was working, so I know the drivers are their. I need help finding source of the problem and resolving it.

To save you a lot of effort, just go here, download the webcam software, unzip it and run it to see if your webcam will actually work. Who knows, it might even fix your Skype webcam issue as well.

I think you gave me advice last night to restart the computer and press F2 to get to the BIOS. I restored defaults by pressing F9 and saved setting by pressing F10. It didn't work the first time I tried, but now it seems to be working. I'll come back if the problem persist. Thanks.

Webcam Only Works Whenever It Feels Like It.

Model: Dell Inspiron 15z 5523 Windows 8 64bit

My computer's webcam stops working from time to time. I can fix it temporarily by setting the BIOS to default by pressing F2 while the computer starts up and pressing F9 to reset the BIOS. This usually fixes the problem, but the next time I turn on my computer, it beeps a few times and the webcam stops working again. When I try finding the drivers through device manager, the webcam is labeled as "Other Devices" > "Unknown Devices". I need my computer's webcam to work indefinitely. My job has me traveling a lot so I keep contact with family and friends through Skype. I'm hoping someone can address the issue and help me to resolve it. I'll provide other information if there is any other information needed.
