Hello all, newbie here, I decided to try windows 8 on a 160Gig hard drive that I had as a spare, and I have it up and running, my one problem is that I run dual monitors into an ATI Radeon 9250 graphics card, and for some reasons none of the ATI Drivers will "extend" my desktop, and when I try to install the catalyst, it says its downloaded and installed properly, but it doesnt show on the desktop and I cant get the catalyst to run, have any of you ran into this issue, and are able to assist me?

Thanks, unfortunately, I cant get the OS to even recognize the video card, even though its putting data out (same on both screens) its using the basic display adapter, I have tried all of the catalysts, each of the different drivers (XP/Vista/Win7) and they all say they instal properly, I just cant get the catalyst to run or the computer to recognize the radeon 9250

and I guess I should tell you that I was able to install it once in capatibility mode, and the entire OS crashed went into repeat repair mode, had to completely reformat and re-install

ok, so a little more info that might be of use, both of my Dell N2020 flat screens (5 months old) are currently running into the 9250, so the card is working, pushing data through it, I just cannot extend my desktop (same data on both screens) and the device manager is not recognizing that there is a radeon 9250 there

OK this is not a fix, but you can use Windows to extend your displays until we find an answer

I also now think I have the answer. Your card is not supported since before Vista, even if you get it to work you will not get Aero :( I think its time for a new graphic card.
If this is not possible and you have the original driver cd that came with the card you may be able to install the XP drivers using compatibility mode. I do not know if this will work or if you will get any functions and as I type I suspect this may be the driver that caused your PC to crash.

I think that Vista/7 XDDM drivers may work
It's a bit obvious, but have you tryed the driver v11.9?

the "extend these Displays" option, is not an option, and unfortunately, the 11.9 driver/catalyst is where I started, and it installs, I just cannot get the catalyst to run, I will try to find the original CD (pack in a box somewhere) and will let you know how it goes, unfortunately, a new graphics card is not gonna happen anytime soon (Money).

ok, was able to get the catalyst to run, the 11.9.....however its just the AMD Vision Engine Control center, and has nothing about the Display in (even though AMD says the driver for it is in there...) getting frustrated here, and Im trying not to, because I know Windows 8 is still pre-beta, hopefully I/we can figure this out.

Also, was going to copy and paste a pic of what I see on the screen, but I cant figure out how to do that in Win8 either :(

too many changes, cant keep up......

This driver will not work there is no support for your card

I use Irfan View. Press the print key, open Irfan View, click on edit then paste, then save to desktop.
