HDD Encloser Help

I had a Macbook and it broke but i was able to get the HDD out of it. I got a 2.5" encloser for it. When i plug it in to my PC via USB nothing comes up. When i open the drivers and printer window it says USB to Serial ATA bridge but i cant access it. What to i do?

You'll likely have to reformat it. Open disk management and see what it lists for that drive. It's likely a file format that Windows is incompatible with. Once you format it in NTFS it should be usable. You'll likely have to delete all partitions on it and create new ones. This is going to erase all the data on the drive so if you want to recover some files don't do anything just yet. In that case I'm not sure what you have to do so Windows can see it.

If you need to access data from the drive, you'll likely have to find a program that will enable that on a PC, or plug it in to another Mac.

According to this link: How to read Mac OS HFS drives in Windows for free - PC Advisor a free program called HFSExplorer will allow you read access to the drive from Windows. If you need read/write access to the drive from Windows, you need to buy software to allow that.
