How do I install programs to my VivoTab Smart?

Title says it all. I have some programs (on my PC) that I would like to install somehow onto my vivotab. I am not super programmer literate so simple terms are best. I plugged my tablet into my PC to try to just drag the program over (apparently that is a no go). I even got so far as to drag it into the public file and it showed up on my tablet but doesn't work when I try to open it so I don't think it actually moved the whole program.

I do have the CDs for the programs but obviously there is no CD drive on the tablet. I do not have an external CD drive and do not plan on getting one, I am hoping there is some way to just transfer the program from my PC or somehow use my PC AS an augmented CD drive.

If this is an RT device, You can't.

Only the Windows 8 Pro Tablets can run 3rd party software.

Even if it isn't running RT, you can't simply drag programs over to install them, you need to run the installers for those programs.

It isn't RT, it is the VivoTab Smart PC. It runs full Windows 8. Yeah I realize now I can't just drag and drop while linked up to the other computer, so how would one install a program onto a device without a cd drive or normal USB port? There must be a way, right?!

If you have the CD,, you can create an ISO, using something like UltraISO or
Free ISO Creator I have not used this one before, but it looks like it should work

Once you create the ISO of the CD/Install Disk
You can copy that over, double click it and it should auto mount in Windows 8 Explorer and allow you to run the install from there.

This is why I never purchase a PC without some sort of USB, or Card Slot.
Every, PC, Laptop and Tablet should have at minimum, one USB port.
It's really sad that in this day and age they are selling them without for no good reason.
I seriously doubt it adds that much to the overall cost of the system.

You can drag over singe install files etc.

You could also share your CD Rom and try that. this doens't work well with large installs if your Network has issues with large file transfers

There is a lot more detail to this because it is very involved, you will need to play around and learn a bit of it on your own.
Maybe someone has a location of a full tutorial on this process.

It looks like it has a microUSB port so you should be able to use that to attach an external DVD drive or USB thumb drive with an adapter. You could also download apps from the Windows App store.

Just to update everyone, I was able to do it. YAY!!! I put the CD in the computer and dragged all the contents over to the "public file" on the Tablet using my home's shared wifi network.

As Strollin said though, you can get an external drive with a MicroUSB cable and use that.

Check your local stores and see if they carry the cables too.
You will want this anyway for doing backups and file transfer
