Disable auto driver installation for a particular device

I have a MacBook air (13 inch, Mid 2012)
I had previously used an apple thing called "bootcamp" to partition the hard disk. Boot camp also allows you to assign which os is used with the computer boots.

Win 8 was installed using a win8 iso and the Microsoft Windows 7 USB DVD Tool to create a bootable USB stick.
That all worked. but there were no drivers as one would expect. So video was VGA and there was no sound etc.
I downloaded from apple a zip file that contains all the drivers and a setup or install program.
BootCamp5.0.5033.zip
I ran the setup program and everything was installed and worked. Could not believe my luck. I now had Pretty much pain free installed win 8.

But a frustrating issue has developed.

Every day or so my external display connected by a mini display port adapter stops working. I rollback the
driver and it starts to work. Then I guess automatic updates catch up and install a new driver. It does not work, I roll it back and the cycle repeats. But.... why.....

I see all over the internet ways to stop windows auto update all together but that is not what I want.

This is the question:
Can some one help me tell windows to only not auto update the video driver?

Here is some more info in case it is of use to you gurus
This driver works:
Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000(Microsoft Corporation - WDDM 1.2)
Driver Provider: Intel Corporation
Driver Date: 26/05/2012
Driver Version: 9.17.10.2768
Digital Signer: Microsoft Windows

This driver does NOT work:
Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000
Driver Provider: Intel Corporation
Driver Date: 12/12/2012
Driver Version: 9.17.10.2932
Digital Signer: Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility Publisher
Device Manager>Display.... >Events tab

What a frustrating waste of time. Now how to force it to never auto update only the video driver.
