Hi there,

This is something I've seen for the first time: latest BIOS version (that, by chance, I use) disappears from site.

A few months ago I updated the BIOS (HP Insyde) to the latest version: site mentioned this is version F.26 and all went well.
Checked BIOS and System Info: yep is F.26 alright.

I have it backuped. Was released in April - May.

There are no issues at all so far but HP seems to have reverted back to version F.24 as the latest one on the website.
I don't think it's possible to revert back the update because it was mentioned in the change-log but to me this version is stable.

This is the same site and laptop model.
Notice sp60606 for F.24 while the F.26 is called sp61457...

I wonder why they removed it...
Any ideas on this one? Anyone else seen this or similar on their machines?

Well, since all functions normally I'll keep this F.26 version and check their site regularly just in case.

Thanks

Maybe they pulled it because of this discovered issue when certain hardware configurations were trying (unsuccessfully) to update to F.26:

Envy DV6-7300ea Bios Update Issue with SSD - HP Support Forum - 2569477

Didn't know that. Thanks a lot. :)

That explains it very well. I got Dv6-7250 and the same BIOS seems to apply.

Luckily I've went to F.26 before I put an SSD in place and filled the optical drive slot (exactly what the issue in the link is!).

That's mentioned there:
The thing is they don't support customized (non-standard) configs so in case we use SSD's and/or added/removed hardware like the DVD drive, the BIOS update will still have this issue in the future if they don't intend to fix it. People need to be aware of this not to brick their laptops (and so doing any BIOS updates from a standard config).

Cheers

Hi Peter,

Welcome to the forums.
That laptop is a good match to this.

I've attached the file here below.

Keep in mind to run it before you insert an SSD or with the DVD drive available since other forums mentioned issues with the F.26. (see previous posts)

I got it here up and running.

Hope you get it working as well.

Looks pretty important: patching of uefi vulnerabilities - UEFI EDK2
read more info here:

So the BIOS fixing this for dv6 7250 is here:
F.2D Rev. A (released 2014-08-26)

Cheers!
