So the typical tablet shopper can choose from the iPad, Android tablet, or Windows tablet. The iPad decision just involves a single model making the purchase process simple. The same is basically true for Android tablets as most branded tablets come with a single model. The iPad and Android tablets all have powerful hardware configurations that run all available apps with ease.

That's not the case with Windows tablets. Some run all Windows apps, some don't, and depending on the hardware inside some tablets may not run heavy apps very well if at all. The only tablets that run all Windows apps well are the high-end models that come with prices that are much higher than the competition. It's no wonder tablet buyers seem to be going with the competition much more often than the Windows 8 options.

Yeah, let's have just two Windows tablet models. And just two TV models, two vacuum cleaner models, two car models, and just two ZDNet writers on technology (and see if this guy makes a cut :)

I believe in diversity. The more the merrier there is nothing like having a choice.

He has a point. Confusion reigns about the rt vs pro , and windows has always suffered form being on cheap devices. People often have a pretty poor impression of it because of that. You don't get Apple stuff on el cheapo hardware.

Choices are nice - but where it gets you is demonstrated by the relative success of Linux - which would be the best OS around if people could agree on a few flavors. A one time Google on "Linux" will turn an average person away.

If you want to sell to the general public, you have to make sure people easily understand what you are offering. A gezillion options will turn them away and the few 'experts' will not suffice for that company's positive bottom line.

no confusion with Windows 8 across the board.

Ease of operation: Does anyone know a command that's similar to the control key when selecting files for delete, movement, etc. The Select all command helps for all, but there is no way for selecting some. I know I can move or delete one at a time. Muchas gracias, Juanito
